Meet 04/23 – Guest Speaker Jerry Appling

Tuesday evening, April 23, we will continue exploring Whitewater Bay. We will also set up the outing for this Saturday, April 27.

We are going to have a special guest speaker, Jerry Appling. He runs the fly shop at Bass Pro Shop in Dolphin Mall.

He has caught HUGE Tarpon in Whitewater Bay and will tell us about his adventures.

You won’t want to miss this animated presentation.

We will also set up the logistics of Saturday’s outing. Which boats are going, and who is riding with whom.

Whitewater Bay is a large, friendly place to go. Fishing has been much better there lately than out Front because of the Algae bloom a couple of years ago.

SDA Meeting Tuesday, 04/09 – Whitewater Bay

The next meeting of South Dade Anglers is Tuesday evening, April 09, at 7:30 pm.

We will be discussing the next outing which will be in Whitewater Bay at Flamingo.

We will schedule the outing for April 27 which is one week after Easter.

The plan is to run out to Middle Keys and then either go to North River or South to Joe River.

There will be a couple of great videos about fishing in Whitewater Bay.

Club Meeting Wednesday, Jan. 8th, 2019

To All Club Members:

This is our first meeting of the new year and I wish everyone a happy and healthy one.

Our first order of business will be discussing our next outing.scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 12th out of Flamingo marina to MM 9x (Pablo’s “secret” spot)  The target species will be mackerel; but mangrove snapper, cobia and many other species can be caught. We will discuss techniques, tackle and Google maps will be shown by Herman, our resident computer guru.

Committee chairs for outings,  social events, speaker development, new member development and more were discussed at the recent Board meeting.  Volunteers for those committees will be solicited at the meeting.

I will be encouraging members to recommend speakers to enhance our knowledge. These may include fishing captains, people in the tackle industry, reel repair and even chefs who do fish cookery.

S.D.A DECEMBER 4TH MEETING

Good morning Anglers,

This Tuesday the 4th at 7:30 we will hold our final club meeting for the year. Speaker for the evening will be Dr Lloyd Ruble. Dr Ruble is an avid fisherman in south Florida. You may have seen him on tv fishing with Flip Pallot, or Chico Fernandez all pioneers of flat’s fishing. I am looking forward to his presentation.

Dinner for the evening will be Hamburgers with sides consisting of Mac and Cheese, Shorty’s coleslaw and a desert for ony $10.00.

We will be discussing the club outing which will be held on December 8th for Mackerel in Florida Bay. If the weather proves to be to sporty, we will probably fish for bass. The latest reports from the glades, is that the water levels are dropping and the bite is starting to heat up.

Captain Alex Zapata Presents

On Tuesday the 9th at 7:30 we will be having our first meeting for October. Our featured speaker for the evening will  be Capt. Alex Zapata .He will be doing a presentation on what he does to target bonefish during the fall and winter months. Also for that evening we will be giving out our quarterly prize, so dig around in your wallets to find your tickets. On March 13th, we will be holding our next general meeting at 7:30 pm.Herman will do a presentation on on our club outing. Feb 27 Meeting fishing World Record Holder

On February 27th, we will hold our second meeting for the month. The guest speaker will be Martin Arostegui . Martin currently owns over 200 world records which is a remarkable achievement. The only way you can achieve that is by careful planning and detailed preparation.  He has taken world record fishing to an all time high. He will be discussing fishing in the Everglades for Largemouth Bass. A meal will be served at the upcoming meeting.  Please RSVP no later than Sunday, February 25th

Lastly, the remodeling of the bathroom is ongoing.
